Horny calaveras

Horny transforms the skull, traditionally associated with the passage of time and fragility, into a celebration of life filled with color, irony — in both its name and its horns — and plenty of character. For me, it represents the nonconformist: someone who accepts that time is limited and, precisely because of that, chooses to live with freedom, desire, and authenticity. Each Horny is made of resin, hand-painted, signed, and numbered, as part of a limited edition of 222 unique pieces.

Horny was born from one of the most universal symbols in the history of art: the skull. An image usually associated with endings, the passage of time, and the fragility of existence, but one that I wanted to take in a completely different direction.

I was not interested in speaking about death through darkness or solemnity. I wanted to transform the skull into a celebration of life: irreverent, colorful, and full of character. Because being aware that time is limited does not have to make us sad; it can also encourage us to live with greater intensity, freedom, and authenticity.

For me, Horny represents the archetype of the nonconformist. That part of us that refuses to live in fear, questions conventions, and does not feel the need to hide its contradictions. Its provocative attitude is not intended to shock, but to remind us that even the most serious subjects can be approached through humor, color, and a different point of view.

The name Horny reinforces that bold, playful character. The work deliberately moves away from the traditional image of the skull as a warning and turns it into a Pop presence: expressive and difficult to ignore. Instead of merely reminding us that everything comes to an end, it invites us to think about what we do while we are here.

Each Horny is made of resin, hand-painted, signed, and numbered by me. The series consists of a limited edition of 222 pieces, yet no two are alike: every color combination and each individual intervention make the sculpture unique. It measures 17 centimeters long, 10 centimeters wide, and 15 centimeters high.

Horny speaks about time, but above all about the attitude with which we choose to live it. About accepting our fragility without giving up desire, curiosity, or the ability to enjoy life.

Because knowing that life does not last forever may be the best reason to live it without asking permission.
