I am delighted to share my collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Frederique Constant. Together, we have created a piece in which two seemingly different worlds — contemporary art and watchmaking — meet through design.
For this project, I have reinterpreted one of the Maison’s most emblematic models, the Highlife Automatic COSC, creating a limited and numbered edition of just 100 pieces, specially dedicated to Spain.
The watch features a 41 mm polished and satin-finished steel case and a striking blue polyhedral-textured dialdesigned by me. I wanted to bring different graphic elements from my artistic language into a piece where the passing of time itself takes centre stage.
I was particularly interested in experimenting with an object as precise and technical as a watch and discovering how it could engage with the way I understand art. The result preserves Frederique Constant’s watchmaking tradition while introducing a visual identity closely connected to my work.
Each of the 100 watches is also accompanied by a numbered NFT matching the number of the timepiece and an 11 cm polyhedral Menina, created in the same blue as the dial and individually numbered. The collaboration therefore brings watchmaking, sculpture and digital art together within a single project.
As an artist, I have always been interested in experimenting with new formats and taking my work into unexpected territories. Designing a watch has been an entirely new experience for me and a fantastic opportunity to see how my artistic universe can engage with a tradition as precise and craftsmanship-driven as Swiss watchmaking.
I am very proud of the result and especially grateful to Frederique Constant for giving me the freedom and trust to create this edition.
